• Audiobooks Promote Literacy

  The Children’s Department has a diverse collection of Wonder Books and Playaways. Please browse our selection of audiobooks for kids.
  A Wonderbook is a print book with a ready-to-play audiobook inside. Just press play to read along with your favorite book.
  A Playaway is an audiobook preloaded onto each device. No internet or Wi-Fi is needed. It comes with AAA battery for 30+ hours of listening.

  The Audio Publisher’s Association says that audiobooks promote literacy and “Neuroscience shows that language processing in the brain is the same when reading or listening.  Audiobooks build and enhance vital literacy skills such as fluency, vocabulary, language acquisition, pronunciation, phonemic awareness, and comprehension – skills that often boost reading scores. ” Parents it’s not cheating to use audiobooks.

  Eclipse Talk with Boothe Memorial Astronomical Society

  A total solar eclipse will take place on Monday, April 8th, 2024. Prepare yourselves and join us as we learn more about Stratford’s own Boothe Memorial Astronomical Society, lunar and solar eclipses, and how you can safely view this upcoming out-of-this-world event!
