EARTH DAY 2020 will be celebrated on Wednesday, April 22, and marks the 50th anniversary of the birth of the environmental movement in 1970! This year while staying at home you can get outside, no matter the weather – enjoy the lovely scent of fresh air, clean up some litter, plant a tree, or simply enjoy companionship with nature.
While outside join other families (virtually!) across the state at noon on Wednesday, 4/22 by participating in the Connecticut Audubon’s Earth Day Backyard BioBlitz. Become an iNaturalist and share what living things you can find and identify in your own backyard!
Check out the Library’s Hoopla to browse and borrow books, movies and music on these topics: Earth Day, Upcycling and the Environment. Or “go green” with an eco-friendly craft or activity.
It’s also a good time to brush up on your recycling know-how. Find out What’s In and What’s out in your recycling bin by asking the Recycle CT Wizard. Explore their website to learn the many ways recycling benefits Connecticut.
Happy Earth Day everyone!
