BOOK DISCUSSIONS:

Monday Morning Buzz

Don’t Know Much About Book Discussion
Wednesday, May 13 | 11am | Lovell Room
Join our next “Don’t Know Much About” book discussion of The Women with the Cure by Lynn Cullen, a novel based on the true story of Dorothy Horstmann, a key player in the development of the polio vaccine. Despite humble beginnings, challenges to obtaining her education, underfunding for her research, and great personal sacrifice, Horstmann dedicated her life to the discovery that (contrary to the science of the time) polio travels through the blood to the nervous system. Horstmann was the first woman appointed as a professor at Yale School of Medicine.
Copies available at the Checkout Desk.

Books Over Coffee
Wednesday, May 27 | 12 noon | Lovell Room
This month BOC will be discussing Interpreter of Maladies by Jhumpa Lahiri. This stunning debut short story collection was an international best seller and winner of the Pulitzer Prize. Navigating between the Indian traditions they’ve inherited and the baffling new world, the characters in Jhumpa Lahiri’s elegant, touching stories seek love beyond the barriers of culture and generations.
