Stratford Library Booklist on Racial Equity

“The mission of the Stratford Library is to empower and enrich our diverse community by providing access to innovative services, information, and ideas.”

We recognize the historic, systemic problems in this country that perpetuate racism in its many, insidious forms. Despite the difficult circumstances of the pandemic, we are here to listen to you, to learn from you, and to provide information to you. And, as librarians, we are here to share our love of books with you. We firmly believe books give us windows into lives we don’t live and promote empathy for all humans. If you are looking for reading ideas for your children, here are some titles that promote racial equity, inclusion, and diversity. Please let us know which titles you found useful or meaningful.
