The Library welcomes its new Assistant Director, Geri Diorio. She is a resident of Stratford and fills the previous position held by Sheri Szymanski who was appointed the Library’s new director last February.
Since 2003 Geri Diorio was Teen Services Librarian and Head of Children’s Services for the Ridgefield Library. She also reviews books, audiobooks and films for various professional journals; is a judge for the Audies and serves on the Nutmeg Book Award Steering Committee. At the Stratford Library Diorio previously worked part-time in the Children’s, Teen and Adult Reference’s departments. She holds a Master of Library and Information Science degree from Southern Connecticut State University and a Bachelor of Science in Media Studies, summa cum laude from Sacred Heart University. Her professional affiliations included the American Library Association, Connecticut Library Association and the Young Adult Library Services Association (YALSA).
“We’re very fortunate to have a person of Geri’s expertise on staff at the Stratford Library,” said Library Director Sheri Szymanski, “and we look forward to working with her as the Stratford Library continues to grow and provide the most current and reliable services to its patrons.” Diorio added, “I’m excited to be working full time in my hometown library and anxious to help Sheri and the staff make the Stratford Library the best it can be.”
