It’s week… five – can that be right? Are you exhausted?tired dog Talking with parents, it seems it’s all about the routine – make us part of your routine with … online programs, bookgroups, storytimes, and our new Stay at Home bingo! There are also some special vacation week programs on this week’s schedule.

Vacation Week Programs

Tuesday, April 14, 2 pm
Illustrate the Story
Ages 6-12. Listen to The Dragon of the North, an Estonian fairy tale, and discover what the story will inspire you to draw. Participants should have paper and colored pencils, markers, or crayons to illustrate the story while we read. Plan for a snack break in the middle and show-and-tell at the end. Registration required.

Wednesday, April 15, 10:30 am
Count Me In
Ages 3-6. Celebrate the number One with a story, a song and activities. Registration required.

Wednesday, April 15, 7 pm
Family Trivia
Families with children grades 3 and up. Play as a team or individually. Test your knowledge of just about everything: art, music, science, movies, history, books, games, landmarks, theme parks, geography! Registration required.

Friday, April 17, 2 pm
Tongue Twisters & Silly Jokes
Ages 5-12. Discover what silly words you can wrap your brain around and bring your best knock-knock jokes for some online laughs with friends. Registration required.

Sundays at 7 pm
Bedtime Stories
Tired of being in charge of your child’s education? The Stratford Library will take over for a bedtime story on Sunday nights. Registration required.

Mondays at 10:30 am
Toddler Time
Ages 1-2, siblings are welcome. Songs and rhymes to build literacy skills. Registration required.

Tuesdays at 10:30 am
Preschool Storytime
Ages 3-5. Stories, songs, and sharing for our preschool families. Registration required.

Thursdays at 10:30 am
Online Baby and Caregiver Support Time
A resource for babies up to 18 months and their grown-ups. Songs and rhymes will be shared, along with the opportunity for caregiver discussion and support. Registration required.

Thursdays at 3:30-3:45 pm
Alphabet Parade – (4/16 is the letter C)
Let’s march our way through the alphabet, celebrating one letter each week (Surely the quarantine will be over by the time we get to Z (Laughing!)). Families should have crayons and paper, and be ready to march around their house looking for the alphabet everywhere! Registration required.

Thursdays at 7 pm
Good Night with Dolly
Enjoy bedtime stories with Dolly Parton. She will read one of her Imagination Library books each Thursday. Storytime is on the internet, and no registration required. More information and tune in at https://imaginationlibrary.com/

Friday Fun
Stories and songs for ages 2 to 5. Registration required.

Saturdays
Do It Yourself Storytime
Check out a self-paced storytime, posted right here on the Kids page every Saturday. Themes will change each week.

Stay at Home Bingo
Children are invited to play Stay-at-Home Bingo during the month of April with the Stratford Library. Complete different challenges at home, color in squares on the BINGO card, and email pictures of completed cards to childrens@stratfordlibrary.org when you are finished. The Secret Garden Book Club

Please join the Stratford Library Children’s Department’s online book club for “The Secret Garden”.  Together we’ll read the book prior to the movie release. Via email, you’ll receive discussion questions and fun extras such as information about the author, trivia questions, and ideas for activities and crafts to go along with the story.  We look forward to reading with you!

Ebook and downloadable audiobook versions of The Secret Garden can be borrowed from the library using Overdrive or Hoopla. The ebook is also available in the public domain. You can access it via https://www.gutenberg.org/files/113/113-h/113-h.htm and read online!
