The Stratford Library and Stratford Parents Place Announce Healing Library Kits

The Healing Library is a series of theme-related kits designed to help families with healing in a healthy way during periods of trauma by teaching parents the skills of looking critically at picture books and utilizing them to communicate with children.

Currently available topics: Death of a Loved One* Death of a Pet* Alzheimer’s & Your Family

Future topics: Cancer & Your Family* Divorce & Step-families * Economic Hardship

Each kit contains: •A variety of children’s books and discussion guides •Lists of additional suggested reading •Activities and materials to provide comfort to family members •Suggested Acts of Kindness •List of Community Helpers for continued support if needed

The Healing Library has been made possible by a partnership with Stratford Parents’ Place and Stratford Library Children’s Department and is funded by the Stratford Rotary Club’s Community Impact Grant and from The Institute of Museum and Library Services under the provisions of the Library Services and Technology Act, administered by the Connecticut State Library.

Friday & Saturday 10am - 5pm
Sunday 1pm - 5pm
