RHYMES AND FINGERPLAYS:

Applesauce
(to the tune of “Yankee Doodle”)

Wash an apple, cut it up,
And cook it in a pot.
When you taste it
You will find
It’s applesauce you’ve got.

(Chorus)
Applesauce, it’s applesauce, applesauce you’ve got.
Applesauce, it’s applesauce, it’s applesauce you’ve got!

Add some sugar, and some spice
And watch the apples simmer
When you taste it you will see
There’s applesauce for dinner.

(Chorus)
Applesauce, it’s applesauce, applesauce you’ve got.
Applesauce, it’s applesauce, it’s applesauce you’ve got!

All Around The Apple Tree
(Sung to: “All Around the Mulberry Bush”)

Here we go round the apple tree, (walk in a circle)
The apple tree, the apple tree
Here we go around the apple tree
On an October morning.

This is the way we climb the ladder, (move arms and legs as if climbing)
Climb the ladder, climb the ladder
This is the way we climb the ladder,
On an October morning.

This is the way we pick the apples, (pretend to pick apples)
Pick the apples, pick the apples
This is the way we pick the apples,
On an October morning.

This is the way we wash the apples, (pretend to turn on faucet and wash)
Wash the apples, wash the apples
This is the way we wash the apples,
On an October morning.

This is the way we eat the apples (pretend to bite into apple)
Eat the apples, eat the apples
This is the way we eat the apples
On an October morning.

Five Red Apples

Five red apples, there used to be more
Bobby picked one and then there were four.
Four red apples on an apple tree
Susie dropped one and then there were three
Three red apples. What did Alice do?
She used one for pie then there were two
Two red apples ripening in the sun
Tom fed one to his horse and then there was one
One red apple, they’re almost done
I ate the last one and now there are none!
